Rich & Kathy Lively
Ministry description:
Field: Thailand
Home State: Georgia
Rich and Kathy both attended Asbury College, where Kathy earned a degree in secondary education and Spanish. Rich earned a degree in Bible before attending Asbury Theological Seminary to pursue a Master of Divinity and a ThM in cross cultural studies and world religions.
After previous terms overseas in theological education and JESUS Film training, as well as pastoral ministry stateside, Rich and Kathy, along with their three children, Richie (14), Danny (11), and Emma (8), now serve with Colin and Ruth Harrison and Connect (see website at right) to help Karen refugees fleeing Myanmar (Burma). According to a BBC report from 2004, over 200,000 Karen people have been driven from their homes during decades of war, with another 120,000, mostly Karen, living in refugee camps along the Thai border. These refugees are in desperate need of medical care, food, and education, along with the love of Christ.
Ongoing responsibilities include lending oversight and assistance to the leadership of Connect, establishing strategic partnerships locally and internationally, and mentoring Karen and Thai leaders working with the various Connect projects.
"When you have done it to the least of these, you have done it unto me."
- Jesus the Christ
