The Mission Society provides global missionary support through missionary recruiting, missionary training and equipping church leaders and others to lead international and short-term mission trips. Based in Norcross, GA, The Mission Society was originally formed to support Methodist missionaries, but now works with a variety of Wesleyan denominations offering missionary training, missionary seminars, missionary workshops and church leadership training throughout the United States and around the world.

H. T. Maclin

H. T. and his wife, Alice, were appointed as missionaries in 1952 by the Board of Missions of The Methodist Church for service in the central Congo where he was the director of the Teacher-Training Institute and later taught at the conference seminary. In 1962 they were the first United Methodists appointed to Kenya where they founded an institution for the training of Christian broadcasters/script writers and audio-visual specialists.

Returning to the U.S. he went on the staff of the Southeastern Jurisdictional Council in Atlanta in 1972 where he was the director/producer of the United Methodist Series on The Protestant Hour. In 1974, the General Board of Global Ministries called him to be the Field Representative for Mission Development in this same jurisdiction where he promoted project and missionary support.

In early 1984 he become the founding President of The Mission Society, appointed to this office by his bishop in the North Georgia Annual Conference. During his tenure H.T. saw 75 missionaries sent to serve in 18 countries by the time he officially retired in 1991. He now serves on The Mission Society's Board of Directors and assists in the orientation of missionary candidates.

H. T. is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and attended Dallas Theological Seminary and the Perkins School of Theology at SMU to complete his M.Th. Honored by the President of the Republic of Liberia in 1964 by appointment as Knight Grand Commander by the Liberian Humane Order of African Redemption, he was also honored by Asbury College in 1984 with a Doctor of Divinity degree.
