The Mission Society provides global missionary support through missionary recruiting, missionary training and equipping church leaders and others to lead international and short-term mission trips. Based in Norcross, GA, The Mission Society was originally formed to support Methodist missionaries, but now works with a variety of Wesleyan denominations offering missionary training, missionary seminars, missionary workshops and church leadership training throughout the United States and around the world.

As of July 2010, the McEuen family has been living for two years in Latin America.  August 2010 will mark one year in Peru.  The year in Peru has been one of exploration and discovery as to what God has called them to do high in the Andes mountains.  Through prayer and experience they have discovered a need and a gifting to focus on the following:

1.  Literacy education.  The statistics say that a majority of the people in Peru can read.  This does not, however, mean that they do read.  It is not a part of the culture to pick up a book or a magazine and immerse oneself in the stories and ideas.  Through a mobile library of children´s books, the McEuens are carrying the world to children in the small towns and communities around Huancayo.  Their hope is to eventually open children´s libraries (modeled after the ones in the United States) so that children, regardless their present situation in life, can have a brighter future.

2.  English language education.  There are a number of people in the mountains who have studied English either in elementary school, high school, college, or one of the langauge institutes in the area.  Very few, however, speak the language.  Through English Outreach programs (2 hours a week for seven week sessions), the McEuens are sharing their knowledge of English and more than 20 years of teaching together as a means of sharing the love of God and presenting the story of our Lord and Savior.  They are also in the process of developing the North American Language Institute (NALI) to provide more in depth English instruction in a Christian environment.

3.  Young Adult discipleship.  In the Peruvian culture, a person is not frully considered an adult until after they have completed college, started a job, gotten married and/or had children.  This means there is a large group of people between the ages of 16 (when many graduate from high school) through 28 or so (when their careers are underway) who are in a sort of middle ground... not children any more, but still not adults.  Ash has been working with the local Methodist church to disciple the youth and young adults.

4.  Women´s ministries.  Women are often seen as second class citizens in the Peruvian culture.  They have the same rights as men, but are often paid less, respected less, and many have been victims of abuse (physical, emotional and/or sexual).  Audra has been working with some current and former prostitutes to help them to understand more fully the value they have in the eyes of God.  She is also looking for an open door to work with teenaged mothers (a common occurance here).

Ash and Audra are not the only ones involved in ministry in Peru.  The children have been called as well.  Among other things, Aylis has begun a dance ministry, and Kia has been involved in a local Christian band called Advertencia.  Todd has a tremendous gift in meeting people and in building relationships.  And as Soraya grows older, she, too, will find what God has called her to do here as well.

Please pray for the McEuen family.  Also, please pray to see if God would like you to partner with them financially.  If so, you may click one of the links below.
