J. Michael Mozley

Ministry description:

Michael was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He attended Asbury College, earning a B.A. English Literature, before pursuing a M.Div. with an emphasis in Missions and Evangelism from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Michael is an ordained elder in the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served as Missions Coordinator immediately following seminary. He also served in two local churches as associate minister and youth pastor from 1990-1996. Michael worked as the director of personnel for The Mission Society from 1996-1999. He has been involved in international missions since 1983 and has ministered in over 30 countries.

Michael has been married to Claire since 1986 and they have three children, Anna, Maggie, and Luke. Together they have ministered in Ghana since 1999. Their mission is to see indigenous leaders raised up who have a heart for the unreached. Their passion is to encourage these leaders to carry out the Great Commission throughout Africa and beyond. Michael serves as The Mission Society's Regional Coordinator for Africa, working with Mission Society missionaries in Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia. He is also currently pursuing a Ph.D in African Studies at Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture in Ghana, West Africa.

Michael joined The Mission Society's Board as a Missionary Observer/Participant in 2008.
