The Mission Society provides global missionary support through missionary recruiting, missionary training and equipping church leaders and others to lead international and short-term mission trips. Based in Norcross, GA, The Mission Society was originally formed to support Methodist missionaries, but now works with a variety of Wesleyan denominations offering missionary training, missionary seminars, missionary workshops and church leadership training throughout the United States and around the world.

Kenya

Africa

Year opened: 2004

This African country is known for being one of the most economically stable and luxurious, situated on the East African coast. Although the situation for Kenyans is markedly better than many other African countries, these 35 million residents still suffer from the harsh conditions many African face and 7% of the population is infected with the HIV/AIDS virus. More than 50% of Kenyans live below the poverty line, and 40% are unemployed. Protestants make up 45% of the population, 33% are Roman Catholic, 10% are Muslim, and 10% adhere to indigenous beliefs.

Kenya is a relatively new field for The Mission Society but the amount of need and call for help has urged us to send a team to reside in this nation. Mission Society missionaries are working in areas of church-planting, discipleship, as well as children’s ministry and orphanage work. The Mission Society also partners with Glory Outreach Assembly (GOA) through teaching the Global Outreach Seminar, as well as assisting in mission mobilization in Kenya and East Africa.

 Prayer Requests

  • Recently Kenya has recorded a huge number of cults/sects sprouting up in the rural areas and cities. Please pray that God will raise up more people to spread the true gospel of Jesus Christ to all corners of Kenya and other African countries.
  • HIV/AIDS is still a big issue in Kenya. Please pray that people will embrace the Word of God in their hearts so that they may not sin against Him.
  • Pray that men and women of God in Kenya will not only be hearers of the Word but also doers. Kenya has many rich people and yet over 65% of the population lives on less than $1/day.
  • The number of orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya is rising everyday as a result of poverty, HIV/AIDS, and a lack of government programs. Pray that more missionaries would be raised up to minister to these children and show them the love of Christ.
