THE MISSION SOCIETY
2024 YEARBOOK
Letter from
the President

Dear Mission Society Community,
2024 was another wonderful school year full of outstanding academics, enriching internships, and meaningful social connection. Each of you remained dedicated to the pursuit of our goal—providing educational opportunities across our city and ensuring no young person is left behind. You continue to amaze me with your innovative spirits, constantly transforming our programs in response to the needs of students and bringing new life to our vision for success in the classroom. It has been a great privilege to collaborate and witness all of your efforts, and I am thrilled to celebrate them today.
Our days over the last year were filled with invaluable lessons and creativity. We extended school day learning with enriching math, science, and literacy activities that bolstered students’ academic confidence. We encouraged self-expression through the arts, hosting dance performances and making new visual art masterpieces. Students volunteered, worked paid internships, and tackled their college applications, building paths towards futures full of opportunity. Our educators encouraged, uplifted, and guided young scholars along the way, ensuring their year was full of joyful learning adventures.
Most importantly, these efforts in and beyond the classroom have grown our community of students, educators, families, volunteers, and more. When we come to the end of each school year, community is the first thing I think of when I consider what made our work so special. Ours is one full of people filled with compassion and drive, who have led our programs to new heights and uplifted students, peers, and colleagues along the way.
I can’t wait for you all to look back on the year in the pages of our Mission Society Yearbook, and join me in celebrating 2024. Together, we made a profound impact in and beyond our schools, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to come together and stand up for the well-being of our classrooms, communities, and city well into the future.
Sincerely,
Elsie McCabe Thompson
